Epson Printers and MFPs

Epson moves ahead of the pack with its PrecisionCore Heat-Free technology which -- unlike all its major competitors -- doesn’t need to heat the ink to print. As a result, they are cheaper to operate and maintain and do not need a warm-up period.

They're better for the environment, better for your business, and better for your budget. Discover more about Epson at BMC today.

Epson is a major innovator and manufacturer of computer- and network-attached printers whose printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) provide crisp, beautiful high-quality results equal to or better than any competitor, whether inkjet, thermal, dot-matrix or laser-based print technology.

So, if you need a few devices, a few dozen or an entire building full of new printers and MFPs for your organization, consider Epson’s PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology from BMC.

Why Epson Heat-Free Technology from BMC?

Epson Heat-Free Technology and BMC

At Epson, the focus is on great performance while reducing heat production and energy consumption in the printing process with their PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology. This technology uses substantially less energy, improves print quality, and increases printer availability, making it an ideal printer for any organization.

BMC has been one of Southern California’s leading suppliers of Office Automation, Document Management, Network Solutions, and Health & Safety technology since 1973.

When Epson introduced its PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology, we at BMC immediately recognized the value of the technology and the perfect fit with our goal of reducing our clients’ costs of printing and improving their workspace health and safety.

BMC is proud to bring Epson’s innovative, environmentally responsible Heat-Free printing technology to you.

PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology

Epson Heat-Free Technology printers reduce the printing process from eight to three steps which significantly improves your total cost of ownership (TCO).

Compare typical laser printer steps...

  1. Receive print job
  2. Preheat the fuser
  3. Charge the photoreceptor drum
  4. Laser exposure
  5. Development
  6. Toner Transfer
  7. Fusing
  8. Print

To Epson printer steps...

  1. Receive print job
  2. Ink ejection
  3. Print

Fewer steps means fewer parts, more efficient technology, more reliability, faster printing and less energy use.

Epson Heat-Free Technology printers eliminate five printing steps when compared to laser printers.

Are Epson's Energy Cost Savings Significant?

Two questions clients frequently ask are, “How much energy does a printer use, and how much would a new Epson Heat-Free printer really save on my power bill?” Epson compared the energy consumption of their Workforce Enterprise Heat-Free Technology printer to a pair of popular laser printers.

Energy savings of an Epson WorkForce Enterprise printer versus two popular laser printers.
Energy savings of an Epson WorkForce Enterprise printer versus two popular laser printers.

The results are impressive, with the Workforce Enterprise printer consuming as much as 87% less energy than the competitors.

Whether you have one printer or 100, the potential energy savings are huge: $38 instead of $243 is an 84% reduction in energy costs.

Put another way, if you select one of the two laser printers, you will potentially be wasting 500% more on your electric bill than if you were to choose an Epson WorkForce Enterprise MFP.

Epson Heat-Free Technology: Total Cost of Ownership and Other Benefits

Inkjet and laser printers may look the same on the outside, but it's what is inside that matters when it comes to energy efficiency, print speed, print quality, uptime, ease of maintenance and other TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) factors.

Laser printers heat the ink reservoirs to allow ink injection, and once the print job finishes, the printer begins to cool down. When the next print job comes along, the heating & cooling cycle begins again. In addition to using more energy, this reheating takes time away from employees waiting for their documents to print. It also adds heat to the office, causing increased HVAC expenses.

Epson’s Heat-Free Technology printers do not use heat to move ink onto the paper. Instead, the printer applies pressure to a vibrating “piezo” element, which flexes backward and forward to fire the ink from the printhead.

This results in near-instant printing, giving your employees their wasted time back and using a lot less energy.

An Epson Heat-Free Technology powered printer improves your TCO by:

  • Reducing energy consumption
  • Eliminating warm-up time
  • Using fewer parts to reduce failures, downtime, and repair costs
  • Requiring fewer consumables
  • Lowering HVAC costs

The average print job is 3 pages. With Epson, the print job has finished before a laser printer has even warmed up. You can get the job done faster with Epson.

Sustainability Benefits from Epson Heat-Free Technology

Sustainability Benefits from Heat-Free Technology

Are you as interested in doing your part to reduce Climate Change? While reducing the electricity used in a single office printer may seem insignificant, consider the energy reduction and related cost savings possible by saving this amount from the dozens or hundreds of printers in your organization (not to mention the millions of printers worldwide). Epson Heat-Free Technology printers reduce heat and its environmental impact “one page at a time.”

The sustainability benefits go beyond energy savings. Laser printers use complex mechanisms, including fusers, drums, belts and related consumables. Manufacturing these components uses energy and finite natural resources, which have their own impact. Epson Heat-Free Technology has far fewer moving parts, and none that are designed specifically to create heat, which eliminates or significantly reduces these environmental impacts, creating a more sustainable print solution.

Epson Heat-Free Technology Reduces Waste

Reduced Waste

Keypoint Intelligence was commissioned by Epson to conduct a comparative evaluation of reliability, consumables and packaging waste and user intervention over 600,000 impressions between the Epson WorkForce Enterprise WF-C20600 D4TW versus the Konica Minolta Bizhub C458 and Xerox AltaLink C8055.

The results were clear: The Epson had vastly lower waste generation and user intervention rates. Specifically, it generated 52.6% and 60.3% less consumables and packaging waste than the C458 and C8055, respectively.

And the Epson had a total of 43 user-replaceable consumables compared to 106 and 140 for the Konica-Minolta and the Xerox. Read more about Epson’s superior performance in the full study.

Epson PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology Printers

BMC carries three PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology product lines, the WorkForce Enterprise, the WorkForce Pro and the WorkForce Pro HC. All three lines offer these eco-friendly features:

  • No warm-up times
  • RoHS compliant
  • Recyclable product
  • Epson America, Inc. is a SmartWay® Transport Partner

WorkForce Enterprise

This Epson WorkForce Enterprise line is built for solving the printing problems of large offices and workgroups. Among the most popular of Epson’s WorkForce Enterprise printers is the WF-C21000 multi-function printer, the fastest in its class, turning out 100 ISO ppm. And this printer has the lowest power consumption in its class.

WorkForce Pro

This line of compact MFPs is perfect for groups seeking maximum page output with minimal ink replacement requirements. For example, the WorkForce Pro WF-C579R network MFP offers high-productivity color printing with speeds of 24 ISO ppm (black/color). Its Replaceable Ink Pack System (RIPS) delivers enough ink to print up to 50,000 ISO pages in black or 20,000 ISO in color before changing the packs. In most situations, the RIPS provides two years of printing capacity. Like all Heat-Free printers, it consumes much less power than laser printer alternatives.

WorkForce Pro HC

A WorkForce Pro HC is the ideal printer for applications requiring exceptional print capacity and low cost. The WorkForce Pro HC WF-C879R color multifunction printer, using PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology, satisfies both requirements. It provides the lowest total printing costs in its class, and delivers up to 86,000 ISO pages (black) and 50,000 ISO pages (color) from its Replaceable Ink Pack System. And it offers the lowest power consumption in its class.
